Teachers seem to understand parents concerns

Aided transition

Calendar very faint

Post 2004

Liked being able to come in during first week

Very informative

Excellent

Actions/Response We have reviewed our communication procedures to ensure families using other Nursery provision are fully involved in the induction processes.

Again one parent thought the time between the induction visit and the start in September was too long ? unfortunately there is little that can  be done about this due to the summer holiday.

Fair

Good/V Good/Excellent

Important

Always feel comfortable talking to the teacher - Staff always willing to talk am or pm

Verbal messages not really reliable

Fantastic ? so different from Nursery ( Pre 2004)

Teachers very approachable/want to communicate

Reading diary not always responded to  - Reading Diary is a useful and quick way of communicating

Good information leaflets ? reading etc

Realise I can chat to teachers at the end of school

Could be better on individual basis

Would love more regular progress reports

Initially felt less involved than in Nursery

Limited

Actions/Response

It is difficult explain why/how most parents are satisfied with the systems and a minority (2)  think communication is limited.  However, we have set ourselves a target to ensure that we maximise every opportunity to communicate with parents and to encourage parents who make little contact themselves.

We appreciate that parents would love more regular progress reports ? but with a termly report, an annual report,  two formal and one informal consulatation evening, contact through Reading diaries, and staff availability at the end of most days we feel it would be difficult to facilitate any more reports.

On occasions ? for a number of reasons, e.g. staff absence, activities in school etc. - reading diaries may not be responded to.  However, we do believe these are minimal and short term.

Would like reading book changed daily

We are not very successful at looking in the bag

V Good/Good/ Really good

Actions/Response

We hope parents will see form the way we have linked comments that, as ever, where homework is concerned views differ markedly.  Our Homework Policy in the early years is that we ask parents to support their children with homework but to engage in discussion with the class teacher if you feel your child is struggling with content or amount.
