Mrs Stone's poem
In teaching I can tell you no two classes are the same
It's just it takes a bit of time to learn the children's names.
And then you get to know their likes and what they all enjoy.
I've found that its quite similar whether girl or whether boy.
And I know you must be wond'ring how I keep my youthful looks
But the answer really can't be found in bottles, creams or books.
I get up ev'ry morning and I must say I can't wait
To find out what will greet me when I get beyond the gate.
I have my cup of coffee and I finish all my tasks
And then the bell rings loudly and I go to meet my class.
I walk out on the playground and their faces I can see
As they all stand there so smartly for their teacher - and that's me.
There's Jamaal, Tehmur and Adil with their smiles across their faces
May, Jessica and Olivia so patiently in their places.
What will they want to know today - James and William Crooks.
And will I know the answers or will they have to look in books?
And then, of course, there's Lewis and his best friend known as Will,
Last year they could be trusted and I know they can be still.
And when I want a job done then I'd like to make it clear
There's two who I can always choose - its Aminah or Madeeha.
Hard workers, they are in my class, like Holly, Ella, Zoe,
They try their best when doing work like Florence, Georgina and Chloe.
And Isaac and Callum Lewis have ideas that they share
While Storm and Lewis Edwards are a really thoughtful pair.
Charlie's good at running, is he fastest in the school?
And Callum, Jake and Ellis in their uniforms are cool,
And every one of them, you know, stands right out from the crowd
Though every teacher likes to say their children make them proud.
So,everybody in my class have all been in this rhyme
And Mrs Lucas's looking so I must be out of time.
So as I get to know you it's a thank you to you all
For making schooldays special for I really have a ball.
