What were you learning today?

Children in all year groups were able to discuss what they had been doing in class.

What was the Learning Objective of today?s lesson?

All children were able to articulate the Learning Objective and discuss what they were learning in the lesson.

How do you know if you have achieved the Learning Objective?

Children in all year groups were able to discuss this very well. They all included success criteria, teacher?s marking and self assessment as examples of achieving the Learning Objective. The children were enthusiastic about positive comments from the teacher either verbally or in marking and being rewarded with merits.

How do you know how to improve/make your work better?

All children mentioned teacher?s comments on their work which helped them to improve next time. In KS2 the children discussed checking their own work and using personal targets.

What do you do if you are stuck?

Children in all year groups were able to discuss a range of strategies strategies including, having a go/trying again, asking a friend/teacher, using resources around the classroom, traffic light system and having a fruit break (KS1).

Which activities do you prefer? What do you enjoy doing in lessons?

The children discussed this enthusiastically and gave examples across the curriculum, e.g. Science Investigations, Art, PE, Guided Reading, whiteboard work and partner work. They all enjoyed PPA days ?because they are fun and we  do things we don?t normally do?.

Which activities help you learn best?

In KS1 the children felt Literacy and Numeracy helped them learn best. In KS2 a range of activities were mentioned including group work, whiteboard work and PPA activities.

Tell me about a group activity you have taken part in recently and the role you played in it.

The children in both Key Stages were all able to discuss a range of group activities in a variety of curriculum areas including Literacy, RE, Numeracy and ICT. They discussed their own roles and strategies for working in groups.

Do you think pupils work hard at Green Lane?

All children said yes. Some Y5?s followed this by saying most work hard. Evidence for this included seeing children in other classes working hard, good resources and children producing lots of work.

Do pupils at Green Lane behave well? How are you encouraged to behave well?

All agreed that most children behave very well at Green Lane. They felt encouraged to behave well for a variety of reasons e.g. Golden Rules, Golden Eggs, Golden Time, Star of the Week, teachers reminding pupils about behaviour and teachers making learning fun.

Have you taken part in any after-school activities? What did you enjoy about them?

In KS2 the children were enthusiastic about after-school activities and enjoyed being with their friends rather than going straight home. They particularly enjoyed French, Football, multi-sports, Summer School and Acorn.
